The Society of the Oblates of the Sacred Heart (OSH), Kottayam is a "Society of Common Life according to the Manner of Religious" specially governed by its statutes and canons of CCEO (cc. 554-562).
By the very nature of the Society, it is a "Society of Common Life according to the Manner of Religious in the eparchial right, erected in the Archeparachy of Kottayam, in the Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church".
Charism
The charism of the society is an ardent love for the person of Christ is expressed in self-sacrificing service by which the members sanctify themselves and become the leaven for the sanctification of others.
Motto
Spread the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and love all with a human heart.
Aim
The supreme aim of the society is the pursuit of holiness by being United with God through prayer, by apostolic ministry and practice of Christian charity. The life of an oblate is for the praise and Glory of God.
